Assignment 2- Connect the Dots

Transformers

1. Find an image that you can bring to life. Start with a hand drawn outline of the image using lines and dots. Then overlay the actual picture and animate it by modifying the picture in Fireworks and then transfering the individual images to MovieMaker. Before starting change your default settings for picture duration and transition duration. Tools > Options > Advanced .... Picture duration .125 and transistion duration 5.00 The animation should be at least 30 seconds long. You must increase frame length for the last dot picture and the first real picture so that you can fade the actual picture in and fade the dots out.

2. Animate your company logo using fireworks. Add you logo, proudly presents screen, and a title screen and credits ( created with dots ) and a mixed audio track that changes when the picture changes.

Assignment 3 - Classic Animation (Hand - Drawn)

Classical animation is drawn animation and it is the most traditional of all animation.

In this assignment you will be creating a very simple classical animation using dots or lines, or shapes. The purpose of this assignment is to learn how to shoot a simple object, how to transfer images to the computer and how to edit the video to produce a smooth animation.  You may work in groups of 2 for filming but each member will produce their own video.

Assignment     Create a dot or line animation similar to the sample above using a webcam. You may use computer images or connect the dot pictures as a guideline or you may draw your own picture. The final image must be completely coloured.  Your animation must be at least 15 seconds.

Add your company logo and your proudly presents animations to the begining of your video. Add a title screen, an ending screen and credits created using the camera.

Add a soundtrack to your video. The soundtrack should be related to the animation.

Assignment 4 - Cut-Out Animation

Cut-out animation is a process where by parts of a figure are moved to create an illusion of an action. The items, with moveable parts are usually drawn, cut out and pieced together.

Fluid movements are not easy to achieve with flat objects. The characteristic of cut out animation is the firmness and rapidness of movement with pauses. It is important to note that cut out animation requires patience and an interesting story idea. Close up shots of a face do not work well in cut out animation because it is hard to create dialogue that requires lip-sync.

In this assignment you will create a short (15 - 30 sec) animation that shows acceleration or movement of different speeds. Titles, logo and credits are not included in the time. You may work alone or with a partner. Each group member must edit their own footage and submit a unique product.

In the samples above the car is repositioned further from its previous position, to give the illusion of the car accelerating down the hill. To make the car appear as if it is climbing up the hill slowly, the car is positioned close to the previous frame. More frames are needed to capture the climb sequence.

Assignment: Create a short animation of a that shows movement. The video must show movement of the main object at different speeds. There must be some movement in the background as well. You must have 1 background for each member of the group. The animation must be at 15 seconds in length per person. The final product must include title, credits and logos. You must also include sound effects that enhance the video. These things are not counted in the required time.

Add your company logo and your proudly presents animations to the begining of your video. Add a title screen, an ending screen and credits created using the camera.

Add a soundtrack to your video. The soundtrack should be related to the animation.

Editing Note: Each member of the group must produce their own animation using the images.
