Assignments

Assignment 1 (Due April 1)- Create a simple character of your own using simple lines and shapes. Animate the character so that it appears to have movement of it's legs, arms or/and head.

REMEMBER: CREATE EACH ITEM ON IT'S OWN LAYER!

Minimum Requirements:


1. A stick figure that performs the following actions:

moves arms/hands, moves legs/feet, moves head/eyes using a motion tween
moves on the screen using a motion on a path
carrys out some activity ..... walks, dances, sings.

2. A background with:

an object that moves using a motion tween i.e. clouds moving across the sky
an object that changes using a shape tween i.e. a sun that grows as it rises in the sky

3. A title using text effects somewhere in the animation.

Extension Ideas!

Make a more complicated character.
Make the character move more than just its arms, legs, head.
Add another character or element

Assignment 2 (Due April 8)- Create a short movie clip using the character that you created in assignment 1. This must be a complete story!

Minimum Requirements:

1. An animated title sequence at the beginning that gives the title and the starring characters.

2. A second character.

3. At least 4 scenes. Each scene must have a different background. In each scene your character(s) should move on the screen, complete some activity and then walk off the screen. There should be secondary motion behind your character i.e. clouds, sun etc. that use tweening.

4. Text on each scene ..... captions, speech bubbles, signs etc.

5. Animated closing credits.

6. You must include examples of motion on a path, fades and text effects in your movie!

Extension Ideas!

Add additional characters.
Add additional scenes.

This is an open ended assignment, create an animation of your choice. You will be evaluated on creativity and the use of goanimate features.

Tutorial 1 - Bouncing Ball

Assignment1 - Pong

Create a pong animation similar to the one shown at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bonw4qVUpoo. Your ball must bounce off each paddle at least 5 times. You should also have at least one instance when the paddle misses the ball. Include a scoring system and declare a winner at the end.

Assignment 2 - Bouncing Ball

Create a bouncing ball animation similar to the one at http://www.aniboom.com/animation-video/403728/Lesson-2/. You must have a background and the ball must bounce at least 6 times.

Tutorial 2 - Simple Characters and Movement

Duplicate the animation shown in the following video. You do not need to reproduce the title or credits http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLldGKK3A_E

Assignment 3 - Animation

Add a second character made only of rectangles to the animation. The second character should interact with the first in some way. See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPjmDBBynJ8 for some ideas.

Assignment 3 - South Park Animation

Create a 30 second animation using the characters from tutorial 3.

Assignment 4 - Final Animation

Create a 2 min animation that tells a story.

Minimum Requirements

2 complex character of your own.
A background with moving elements(i.e. sun, clouds, etc)
2 Inanimate objects that are used by your character.
An animated company name and logo at the beginning.
Animated credits at the end.
